Reasons for nomination The team has achieved a high quality of sound balance, from low to high tones, to a level comparable to HD video. In particular, the rendering and use of the low tones by the 5.1ch woofer are excellent. The high-quality sound effects and music are regarded highly, not only in Japan but all over the world.

The advanced workflow and building a detailed acoustic space by using the workflow
“Resident Evil 5 (Bio Hazard 5)” Sound Development Team (Capcom Co., Ltd.)

Reasons for nomination The team successfully built a high-level game sound by utilizing MT Framework and developing an advanced workflow. All sounds, including the music, are based on 5.1ch surround mix, offering excellent sound effects comparable to an “AAA” title. The team is committed to learning more advanced technologies and pursuing excellent game audio, and continues to encourage other developers in Japan.

Reasons for nomination The team successfully built sound effects designed to attract players into the world of games by introducing surround sound as the standard expression but not overemphasizing it. Securing dynamics that is comparable to that of movies has had a great influence on the issue of sound pressure among Japanese game makers. It is also noteworthy that excellent spatial expression, such as sound insulation effects and environmental sounds, has been achieved on multiple platforms.

Reasons for nomination In the development of titles simultaneously released on different platforms, the team has constantly developed new expressions while maximizing the capacity of each hardware. For many years, the team has set the benchmark for sound expression on each platform. The team worked aggressively on internal digital processing for the latest title “Ridge Racer 7,” such as interactive music, engine sound synthesizer and real-time audio effects, offering new possibilities for real-time digital signal processing for new generations.

Lifting the “sound games” up to the new stage of “rhythm game” through elaborate works
“Rhythm Heaven (Rhythm Tengoku Gold)” Development Team (Nintendo Co., Ltd.)

Reasons for nomination The team upgraded the level of the game from the previous series through simple ideas and detailed design, successfully developing music games that a broad range of customers can enjoy playing. The team used sound as an important element of the game design, by integrating the talent of a producer of hit pop music into the game design, and through the superb coordination of sound expression and gimmick, as well as through an elaborate selection of tone colors that directly connects the intuitive comfortableness of “getting into the rhythm” with user operability.
